About the Author
Beth Massey lives in Chicago overlooking Lake Michigan with her husband of forty plus years. They have been activists in the struggle against war, racism, sexism and anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender bigotry for even longer than their marriage. Now that she and Bill are retired, Ms Massey spends her early mornings writing and the rest of her day in the company of her well-informed best friend and partner. Finally...!

O.k, I'm sensing that most people who bought a copy of this book - and are complaining about it- did not read the author's warning: sexual explicit.
Needless to say, it is... *very* sexual explicit.
As I'm concerned this was *exactly* the kind of book I was looking for!!! I've recently took on reading several P&P sequels -from various genres, including "erotic"- and so far in the 'erotic genre', I have to say that this book didn't disappoint. More over I was glad to find out that the sex portrayed feels natural and well written.
Sometimes erotic novels try to show so much that end up being laughable in their portrayal of intimacy. I was glad to find out that this novel didn't fall into that category as it balances a nice plot with erotic elements. Although I might add that this is a personal view and it might change from reader to reader. In any case, I really enjoyed the book. If you are looking for a sequel where Darcy and Elizabeth get it on, you should give this book a try.
Although I agree with some of the comments that at least the digital version NEEDS an urgent revision as it is missing quotation marks from dialogues and such.

Calm down, people

I had to check out the book because it had TWO one star reviews. It must be seriously awful, right?
No, it's not.
It's an erotic fanfic and definitely not my thing. But the writing isn't bad. It's 500 pages for a really low price, and the formatting was good.
If it's not your thing, say that. But you can read the excerpt and know it's an erotic fanfic right away.
As a fellow indie self-pubber, I feel compelled to help balance out the crazy stars here. The title, the excerpt, and the blurb ALL tell you exactly what kind of book it is, so there's no reason to give a one star because it's erotic fiction.
If you bought it looking for great erotica, and hated the writing, then that's something else. I'm a very picky reader, and I thought the writing wasn't bad at all. I've read worse in traditionally published NYT bestsellers.
In short, looking forward to anything that this author might write that is more up my alley. And I'm sure your next reviews will be saying how much they loved the book!

Just OK

What part of "sexually explicit" in the amazon book description did some of the 1-star reviewers not understand? The sex is not what bothered me about this book. Rather, it was the endless references to other books--endless and annoying to us non-English teachers!--and so much unnecessary text and scenes. I skimmed over a lot of it. I really didn't care about the relationship between Bella and Susan, nor the lengthy background on some of the characters' history together. Jeez, give it a couple of paragraphs and let it go! And so many editorial mistakes--especially missing quotation marks around dialog. The one thing I did find interesting was the alternate path for Lydia. I've read zillions of P&P variations. This was just OK--would have been better if shorter and tightened up. As en editor myself, I fault the author's editor for not providing more guidance.
